Leave Johnny Manziel Alone Guys. Seriously.

Early Wednesday morning, at 9:17 am exactly, Texas A&M sophomore quarterback and reigning Heisman trophy winner Johnny “Johnny Football” Manziel had the podium to himself at SEC Media Day (along with an ESPN commentator) to explain his summer doings. The fact that the most powerful college football conference in the land had the spotlight on one player NOT FROM Alabama (Sorry A. J.) only a month before the season begins is ridiculous.

The 20 year old qb, he’s a sophomore in college for goodness sake, is not a professional football player. He’s not even considered a full fledged adult yet! He’s a kid that has been given a bunch of options due to his success on the football field and is taking FULL advantage of every moment. Sitting court side at Dallas Mavericks games or being caught via cell phone camera at a bar (He’s 20 years old right?) or as a guest on a late night talk show-the kid is having fun. Didn’t we all have fun in college? Or for some of us (Not me though) didn’t we want to? The universal answer is Yes indeed.

Now I don’t want to let the young man (20 years old with a freakin’ Heisman trophy! Wow.) totally off the hook. He is tending to do a bit much as far as the tweets and Instagram pics. Take it easy son, you don’t need to let the entire world into your business. You must clearly see how that tends to turn out. That is the only advice I have for him. Heck, it’s the only advice I am qualified to give him.

Now here’s some advice for the rest of you: Keep the fact that this guy is not breaking any laws (under aged drinking aside) and isn’t really harming anyone, least of all himself (i.e. Marshall Henderson of Ole Miss). Manziel is living his life on his terms and when the season starts I have no doubt ‘Johnny Football’ will be back in full effect. He’s my pick (I don’t officially have a Heisman vote-what’s up with that?) for the Heisman again this season. The hell with the Manning Passing Academy. He plays for Texas A&M and as far as I know he hasn’t slept through any meetings or practices for them.
